This is the 1936 Pilot Radio, model X203, a brown bakelite tombstone radio.
It was also available in white plaskon or black bakelite, and with chrome trim around the speaker grill.
Pilot Radios were made in Long Island City, New York.
They also had factories in Britain that made different, and some similar to US models.
US Pilot Radio exported many radios around the world. This model is found in Europe without the "X" prefix (see thumbnail & link below).
I've found the main cabinet is identical to the basic case on the Australian Airzone model 529.
Even the leaf design on the grill decorations is identical.
Another large bakelite Pilot, the model BG562 has the identical basic cabinet as the Aussie Airzone 537 "Symphony Leader".
I've never found documentation on the relationship between Airzone and Pilot Radio.
