The model MP5-5-3 was made in 1946, the earlier version of the model 6000.
This model is nearly always found with cracks just behind the handle.
It is a heavy radio and shouldn't have been considered portable.
Even the handle couldn't hold its weight on this example.
It has a California "Stationized" dial and used 6 volt tubes.
