This is the 14 tube 1939 E.H. Scott "Masterpiece" with a 2-piece chassis.
11 tubes are on the beautifully chromed tuner chassis,
and 3 tubes on a separate amplifier chassis shown below.
As the dial is marked, Scott radios were "custom built" to individual needs,
into various cabinet styles, sometimes including a phonograph,
and sometimes built into walls or cabinetry.
In the late '30s, Scott moved from the small window dial design
to the beautiful large round dial design.
The reverse painted glass dial includes "Scott Custom Built"
and "The Stradivarius of Radio" printed next to the violin logo.
Scott radios were real masterpieces with chrome plated chassis
and built with the highest quality standards.
This has the original 12 inch speaker and the exclusive Scott wood "S" knobs,
although the upper left knob should match the right side pinch knob.
A similar 1938 model Super XII had the same dial, 2 fewer knobs,
and a single 12-tube chassis design.
The Super XII and Masterpiece models are Scott radios
with relatively low tube counts - many Scott radios have 20+ tubes!
Only around 500-600 Scott Masterpieces were built, with just 40-50 known in collections,
It is fairly rare and does not surface as often as other Scott models.
