This planetarium or orrery has a maroon bakelite base and arm.
It is a heavy, very well-built piece, made by Trippensee Planetarium Co. in Saginaw, Michigan.
An internal light bulb illuminates the sun and a small compass is set into the arm.
A wood handle-hold below the sun with the bakelite peg extending below the center of the arm
allow for manual rotation, with chains and gears to rotate the moon around the earth
as it all rotates around the sun.
