The pre-WWII Fada model 252 was offered with a catalin plastic and these wood cabinets.
It has come to be called "The Temple" by radio collectors.
When radio production resumed after WWII, the design was
offered again as the model 652 and SW version 659 with
a catalin cabinet, chassis updates and newly designed dial and knobs.
The wood cabinet 252 was made in fewer numbers and seldom turns up.
The dial escutcheon and grill are red laquered wood and
came with "gumdrop" catalin knobs.
The wooden cabinet was covered in a painted canvas material,
and was also available in burgundy with white trim.
Another wood version had beautiful wood laquered finish with wood knobs.
I have seen these wood knobs on some canvas examples as well.
As the model 252 schematic below shows, circuit designs were always changing.
Design improvements continued when it was re-introduced after WWII as the model 652,
with more revisions including the use of Octal, Loctal and Mini tubes.
A post-wwII model 659 shortwave version was offered.
